April has been an exciting month for us, and there\u2019s even more to come in May. Season 3\u2019s development is in full swing, and we\u2019re glad to share that we’ve just reached an important milestone in wrapping up our Survival Mode Alpha phase! Survival Mode\u2019s development is coming along well, and we have more to share below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also want to take this time to share news about the Private Beta, some patch notes, what we\u2019re currently working on, and what else awaits for May. I\u2019m too used to saying \u201clet\u2019s dive into it\u201d\u2026 so uhh\u2026 in the spirit of this \u201chot\u201d upcoming Season, \u201clet\u2019s get cooking\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRIVATE BETA (PC)<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

With our new development phase starting, we\u2019re excited for the opportunity to get our very first feedback on the revamped Survival Mode, as this will evolve with your help and input.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next Private Beta (on PC) will be held in mid-May, for all current and new Midguardians members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE TRIBE GROWS!<\/h1>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To all our PlayStation friends – Tribes of Midgard will be available via PlayStation Plus<\/a> until June 6th! Bring your friends, form a brand new tribe and defend Midgard together – the game is downloadable via PS Plus starting May 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tribes of Midgard will also support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)<\/a> which allows for smoother gameplay, crisper graphics and input lag reduction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to PlayStation for supporting us from the very beginning – it’s a wonderful feeling for us to bring the game to so many new players around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SURVIVAL MODE INTRODUCTIONS<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Next, we want to (re)introduce some characters that will make an even stronger appearance in Midgard in Season 3\u2019s revamped Survival Mode – it\u2019s about time they say Hil\u00f3!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Eira Foot-Crushed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For years now, there has been a red-haired Einherjar featured on the Tribes of Midgard key art. She\u2019s a powerful Viking warrior, named Eira Foot-Crushed (there\u2019s a reason<\/em> for that name\u2026 and we\u2019ll get to that a bit later on). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\u2019s been a constant figure since the start of Tribes of Midgard\u2019s development, and has two armors created after her – both the Eira and Midsummer Eira cosmetics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only that, but she has lent her voice to narrate several of our trailers,<\/a> and the Giant Showcase series. <\/a>Did you know she even voices the introduction of the game, spoken in High Midgardian? She\u2019s voiced by the talented Camilla Arfwedson<\/strong>, and we were fortunate enough to be in that recording session (very fun!!) to hear how it all came to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all that said, it\u2019s clear to us that it\u2019s time for Eira to take on a greater role in our revamped Survival Mode – you\u2019ll finally get to meet her in game for the first time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\u2019s currently creating some\u2026 special Runes for you, so expect to hear a proper introduction from her soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1niklo and S\u00f3leyra <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides Eira, you may also recognize our curious and fantastical Norse cats from the tutorial (or maybe they\u2019re your favourite pet in game) – M\u00e1niklo\u2019 (meaning \u201cMoon Claw\u201d) and S\u00f3leyra (meaning \u201cSun Ear\u201d). M\u00e1niklo is, well, a stubborn little deity, while S\u00f3leyra\u2019s quirkiness tends to surface with her perpetual sense of adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the Survival mode revamp will introduce many new changes and more to learn, the tutorial will be receiving various improvements, including a more consistent interaction with our two cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1niklo\u2019s wise words, along with S\u00f3leyra\u2019s effervescence, will be there to guide you along your first steps in Season 3, so you don\u2019t have to worry about learning the ropes alone. But until they can do so, we\u2019ll give it a start!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE ALLFORGE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

We also want to introduce you to an important element of the upcoming Survival Mode: The Allforge. This is a wondrous little Dwarven invention that can instantly craft Stations (you can see some examples of crafting stations here<\/a>). You\u2019ll need the Allforge in order to create Tools, Weapons, Armor, and maybe even a heavily fortified village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be deployed wherever you\u2019d like (fun fact: it can even repair your equipment). Think of it as the origin of all Stations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FISHING <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This has been lurking on the Road Map for some time, and with the new Survival Mode, some brand new resources have appeared just under the water\u2019s surface! Craft one of many fishing rods, and find the perfect spot to fill your pantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of our team have started working at our brand new studio (still under construction – we need some plants) after 2 years of working from home. Though we remain a totally flexible, hybrid-working studio, we\u2019re glad to see each other\u2019s faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can bet we\u2019ll share a studio tour once the setup is done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
